Portfolio > Rawhide/Foundry Series

Each sculpture was first finished in cast aluminum. Each piece was then used as a mold to cast the rawhide sculptures over. The rawhide is soaked for several days, cut to fit, stretched over the aluminum and stitched together with waxed string. Once completely cured, the rawhide sculptures were removed from the aluminum and re-sticthed anew (as during the drying process the rawhide shrinks and tears the stitching apart).
