Cast bronze and burlap, this doll is one within a series called Love Me. Love Me is a series of work utilizing the figure of a doll to convey the idea of love from the view of childlike whimsy and wonder. That ability to be enamored with a beauty that's often times missed, contorted, or discounted by others. Hold Me Close is a dedication to any possession a small child clings to and never seems to let go of. Their "blanky" or prized toy. In the process of keeping their prized possessions close at hand and close to their hearts they are often battered, torn, and worn down to a state of almost decomposition, but still loved as much as the first day they were received. They have been loved to ugliness.
